Hair and skin moisturizer

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

Today’s gem isn’t something to eat but it could be edible! We made moisturizer with only four ingredients! I had to wash my fiancés hair and realized we didn’t have any moisturizer with us at the time but with some quick thinking I whipped up this nice moisturizer using flaxseed gel, coconut oil, and some essential oils. It can be used in your hair or on your body but just like oil and water it will separate so be sure to shake well before use and refrigerate or freeze it for a longer shelf life.

1/2 cup Fresh ground flaxseed

4 cups water

1/2 cup coconut oil

Boil the flaxseed in the 4 cups of water for about 5 to 10 until it's starts to form a jelly like texture or until the liquid starts to become a thicker consistency.

Stir occasionally.

Once to your desired thickness remove from heat and allow the flaxseed gel to cool. I chose to leave the flaxseeds in my mixture, but you can filter out the flaxseeds with a cheesecloth if you choose to.

As the flaxseed gel cools it will thicken slightly

Add in the coconut oil and mix thoroughly.
