Vegan Sausage goes great in pasta, salads, burgers, and so much more. It is a wonderful addition to any meal. The meal prepared was a Peppery Coconut curry pasta with pan-seared sausage.
Recipe
1 3/4 cup of vital wheat gluten (gluten flour)
1 1/2 cup water or broth of your choosing
The rest is seasoning you can change or substitute as you wish.
2 1/2 tbsp Nutritional yeast
2 tsp TurmericÂ
1 tsp Allspice
1 tbsp Onion powder
1/2 tsp RosemaryÂ
1/2 tsp Sage
1/2 tsp CardamomÂ
Dash of Celery salt
1 tsp Fennel seeds
1 tbsp Garlic powder
1/2 tbsp Cumin
1/2 tbsp Umami blend (mushroom seasoning)
Add all dry ingredients together in a bowl and whisk well. Once combined create a pit in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the water or broth. Mix until the dough becomes springy and fibrous.Â
Portion into two semi-medium logs (about the size of a breakfast sausage log you would buy in store) wrap them tightly in aluminum foil or parchment paper. Add 4 cups of water to a pot with a steam basket and bring to a rolling boil. Then place the logs into the basket, cover, and steam for about 1 hour. After steaming let the sausage logs rest for 20 minutes, then either enjoy as is or cook in your favorite dishes!
